How far will all of this go?

How far will all of this go? I think that thing that holds so many of us back from the point of beginning is that we don't know how it will turn out. We hit the pause button, waiting for what we hope will feel like the perfect moment of when to begin that thing that will propel us into the stratosphere of our dreams. I have come to find out that there is no perfect time to begin. The saying, "The best time to plant a tree for shade is 40 years ago. The second best time is today" is ...

Sometimes you gotta skin your knee

Sometimes you gotta skin your knee. There are no straight lines in life. It's the curves I expect that make life interesting. If not for the curves we would all just walk in single file and arrive where we set out to be right on time. If you are going through a challenge right now you likely don't want to hear the platitudes like "it will make you stronger and we all have to go through it or failure is the great creator of success". As Jim Rohn said, "Until you get you own planet you don't get to figure ...

Don't always chase what is shiny

Don't always chase what is shiny. We've come a long way from the days of the carnival barker and in some ways not far at all. The dialogue may have changed over the years but make no mistake that we are all enticed to "buy this" in more ways than we have ever thought possible. One of the constants of the world of marketing and promotion is to put forward to the public that what is being offered is "new and improved". Over the past hundred years or so this edict has grown and grown and grown. One offer to ...

When was the last time you?

When was the last time you ????? Time marches on unless you claim it. "Stuff" has a way of, well, getting in the way. We all have a long list of things we love to do and people we love to see and places we love to go. We have that experience from time to time when we realize that one of those things we really enjoy somehow slipped off the conveyor belt of life. I think one of the primary reasons is that life begins to run us rather than the other way around. Days melt into weeks and months ...

Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.

''Be Yourself. Everyone Else Is Taken!" I write the days perspective every day. I have for over 4 years now. Sometimes I come across something that is sent to me that I just have to share. Consider this today's perspective. It was sent to me by my Mother-in-law. The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of ...

There are few real accidents.

There are few real accidents. We live in a world of blame. The economy is responsible for my BBQ not turning out well. I didn't catch the fish because the boat wasn't big enough. The girl never called back because my neighbor picked on me in grade two. I can't get ahead because of the thunderstorm. I hope the illustration of the ridiculous nature of the blame or excuses accentuates the point. The fourth leading cause of failure is excusitis. Taking responsibility for our current state of affairs needs to find a resurgence in society. An excuse blames away the ...

Don't ever stop asking

Don't ever stop asking. The great clue of what will bring us what we need is clearly cited in the bible. It states, "Ask and ye shall receive". It doesn't say think about asking. It says ask. Funny thing that happens on the way through life. Over and over and over again this great philosophy is beaten out of us. "You should not ask for too much. Don't be greedy. Wait until someone offers. Never ask first" and so it goes. This would appear from all sides to be a flawed philosophy. This is completely counter to the Law of ...

Step out for your break time

Step out for your break time. One of the aspect of business life that I see people challenged by over and over again is the roller coaster of life. It is one of the great frustrations especially for those who are self-employed or who live in a commission based world. Here is the scenario. The individual has no new clients and no new business so they panic and work like crazy lining up appointments and as they call it "fill the hopper" with new potential business. Then as the appointments begin and business picks up all focus goes on closing ...

The magic has always been inside

"The magic has always been inside". "Where will I find it"? is the misguided question asked over and over again millions of time a day throughout the world. Belief is everything and if we are looking for what we need "out there" rather than "in here". As Emerson once said, "what lies before us or behind us is nothing compared to what lies inside of us". This truly must be maintained as one of the guiding principles of life. I was delighted to run into an old friend over the weekend at an event I was asked to emcee. It ...

Born fearless

"Born fearless". The consistent theme to what I write and what I believe and what I teach is that the absolute majority of the challenges in life that keep out dreams at bay are the behaviors and negative beliefs we develop over the years. What I see happen again and again is that a negative experience leads to doubt, doubt to fear, fear to paralysis. The question I am sure that many have today is "But once I have a behavior or fear can I get rid of it"? The answer is every time. What was created can be undone. ...
