The Secret Of The Cab-Driver

The Cab-DriverAs Emerson once said, "What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you."  The truth is that we all have so much more inside of us than our mind is currently willing to allow us to believe.  All the proof we need is evident from our own lives.  There was a time we could not chew food or roll over.  Walk and talk and ride a bike.  Read and write.  Swim and drive a car.  All the accomplishments of our lives to this date have made possible the person we are today.  What you are is accomplished and substantial.  Without all the past efforts it would not be possible to be where we are.  We learn to raise children and run businesses and coach little league and balance a checkbook.  Understanding this then, the only thing that stands between where we are and where we want to be is the improvement of new skills.  I met two business owners this evening who have a fantastic business model and a passion bigger than the sky for what they do.  In conversation with me they both admitted that they greatly lacked the skills to market their idea, to which I replied, "Then get better at it".  They both looked at me like I'd just asked them to walk the high wire over Niagara Falls.  I went on to explain the philosophy that I share with many people.  "The cab driver" I told them is a neurosurgeon without training.  This is true for all areas of growth.  To have more you just need to become more.  If one day the cab driver wakes up and discovers that his great passion is to be a neurosurgeon then all he need do is to set out to acquire the knowledge and skill.  It is exactly the same process you see that allowed him to drive the cab.  Here's what all this means I guess.  There is nothing you can't have and no one you can't become if you adopt the secret of the cab driver.  Have an excellent day.   Be well,   Randy Taylor     Buy The Books!
