The Power Of The Pen

I'm curious. I guess I've always been curious and I am fascinated by what we are all capable of.  As a result I have made it part of who I am to take note of the nuances of life that take us in this direction or that. There are actions that we can take that in the moment may not seem that significant yet can ultimately lead to great change and promise. One of these is the action of beginning.  Having thought, even inspired thought can remain frozen in time if we don't take that first step to begin the journey. I told the story today about something I did many years ago that led to where I am today.  It was a goal or thought more than 35 years ago to work in this field that had remained frozen in time for a great number of years. One day while riding my bike along the Niagara Parkway I stopped at a park bench, took out a writing pad and began to write down everything I knew about personal growth in point form. When I was finished I had written about a page and a half. I still have it.  It was seeing the words on that page and this goal begin to take shape in such infancy that inspired me to read more and research more and write more. Perspectives - Where you are now has nothing to do with where you can go by Randy Taylor of Taylormade Leadership @TheWinnerWithin (Social)That page and a half eventually became a book. The book gave me the courage to leave broadcasting 12 years ago and enter this field. From that simple beginning I have been able to go on and speak to and coach thousands of people from every walk of life and receive accreditation from some of the top fortune 500 companies in the country. When relating the story in the session today I thought about what would have happened and what would have become of that goal and dream if not for that sunny day on a park bench years ago when I put pen to paper. Here is what this all means I guess. The written word is the physical transition of thought to action.  Do that. If you have a thought. If you have a dream.  If you have a passion inside that has remained frozen in time set it free and start something.  Write it down.  I will forever be grateful for the power of the pen. Have an excellent day.

Be well,

Randy Taylor
