Driven By Passion, Not By a Calendar

It has been said a great many times that to repeat an action again and again and expect a different result is the definition of insanity. Very true, yet very unusual how often we get pulled down that rabbit hole. It's that time of the year again. New Year's resolution time. Year end planning time. Setting new goals time. Changing the calendar time. Consider this. "Why is it that the vast majority of goals that are set as a new years resolution are never achieved?" The answer is quite simple actually. There is very little that is motivating about a date on a calendar. Especially when you consider that it changes the day after it arrives. "Happy New Year, sounds much more celebratory that Happy January 4th". The process to achieve a goal, any goal requires this process. Identify the goal Have an emotional connection to it Visualize it and see yourself in possession of it Connect again to the emotion Begin to invest in the activity to move yourself towards the goal Continue to feel the emotion More activity More emotion More activity More emotion ....................smile when success arrives. Therein lies the answer to being able to achieve anything we set out to in life. Make certain that you first have the emotional connection. An emotion so strong that it causes you to continue on, over, around and through anything to arrive at your destination. The answer then is the emotion. Know this. Long after the clock has struck midnight on December 31st. Long after the last glass of champagne has found it's home. The last kiss has elapsed and the last piece of confetti has been swept up at the end of the night, it will be the emotion that is left to carry you on towards your hopes and goals and dreams. Make certain that you do this. Set your goals to be driven by passion, not by a calendar. Have an excellent day.
