Don't Let the Music Die Inside of You

"Do you feel that? The emotion? The connection when you listen to certain songs and artists?" Most everyone has a song or songs that are the triggers from our past. These songs generally have the capacity to conjure up events and people. Feelings and memories. Triumphs and tragedies. Certain artists and certain songs allow us to feel the emotion that emanates from the speakers in our car or home. Artists like John Lennon, Josh Groban, U2, Marvin Gaye, Elton John and so many more have all touched me in the past and made me feel that. That thing called emotion. Driving back from a seminar I was listening to the music on my I-pod and the song Miss Sarajevo came on. It is a duet of Bono and Pavarotti. Bono is one of my favourite artists but I have to tell you when Pavarotti comes in with his part, the contest ended and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. There is so much emotion that pours out of his voice. I have heard it said that his voice was the sound of his soul itself. You can't help but be touched and moved. Feeling that I grabbed onto the thought and voiced a note in my recorder for this perspective. I am in the business of words. Constantly searching for the right words to describe a process or theory. In this case the song did it for me. If you are wondering how to know if your goals in life are the right ones and if your vision is in fact authentic, take the Pavarotti test. If visualizing your goal or dream makes you feel the same way listening to Pavarotti or any of the great artists does then you can know you have found it. If on the other hand the goals you believe you have don't cause that emotion set them aside and keep looking. You will find it. Make certain you never do this. Never let the music die inside of you. Have an excellent day.
