Big People Have It Wrong

Randy TaylorIn a seminar today I was talking about why so many people never connect with what it is they were put here to do. To live with passion. I told the story of how children are sold a bill of goods throughout their lives. Here is the story. Every year, students are pushed through the system with little or no regard for what it is that they would like to do or what they have a passion for. These students enter college or university with no real direction or purpose, no idea why they're there in the first place. They are simply reminded constantly from all areas of society that they have to go. They've been told hundreds or perhaps thousands of times that if they don't get a good education, there will be consequences.

Throughout a child's life the conversation goes something like this. Young Bobby asks,   "What should I do"?   The world replies, "You need to get a good education".   The child responds as all children do with "Sure but why"?   The world tells him, "Well Bobby, if you don't get a good education you won't be able to get a good job".   "O.K." says Bobby, "But why"?   "Well" says the world "If you don't get a good job you won't be able to pay your bills and support your family and pay your taxes and be a responsible member of society"   To which Bobby replies, "Oh, I think I have it now. Let me make sure I have this correct. So you want me to go to school doing something I won't enjoy so that I will one day be able to get a job I don't enjoy and do that for the rest of my life. Do I have it right"?   "Yes Bobby" says the world. "You have it right".   Be well,   Randy Taylor
