When You See With The Eyes Of A Child

Something about life that has always appeared odd to me is how different the same thing can appear to two different people.  While what we look at may be the exact same thing, how we perceive it can make it morph and bend like a light shot through a prism.  I understand that we are all accustomed to accepting the statement that "Perception is reality" however perception can shine light or shroud us in darkness. Here is all perception is.  A belief or doubt or opinion created or impacted as a result of the influence of others. The sad truth is we weren't always that way.  There was a time in all of our lives when we were not so clouded.  I got to see what that looked like and just how beautiful that was this morning.  My son Jonah is 10 and he's in grade five.  The Power to Change from Within by Randy Taylor of Taylormade Leadership @TheWinnerWithin (social)Today was a special day he had looked forward to for a while. It was called "Twins" day.  The concept being that the kids were allowed to pick one person in their class to be their twin for the day. Jonah's twin was one of his friends Isaac. When they saw each other walking into school they both ran together and shouted, "Look, we're twins.  We're exactly alike". They were so excited and there would be no convincing them otherwise.  They had decided the day before that they would both wear their Batman shirts. To them they were absolutely identical. And they were, except one is white and the other is black.  The magic of the moment was they could not see it. They had no idea. This is an incredibly important lesson.  The world could be so much brighter and better and shinier when we didn't allow perceptions to sully out vision.  Here's what this means I guess. Don't see obstacles see opportunity.  Don't see conflict welcome love. Don't see fear – see growth. Everything. All of it. Everyday.  Imagine just how much better it all would be if only we could see with the eyes of a child.  Have an excellent day.   Be well, Randy Taylor CalltoAction_TwoBooks
