When Is Your Next Play Date?

Play DateWe always find the time to call the client.  We find the time to fix the fence. We find the time to, well do anything and everything but for what we really want to do for ourselves.  Being in the business of personal and professional development puts me at risk to appear counter to what I teach.  Yes, we need to stay focused on business and focused on our clients and focused on our duties at home.  One of the things that often seems to lose focus however is the time we carve out for ourselves.  All the issues of responsibility are important but so is the responsibility to ourselves.  On the weekend my son's friend was dropped off for an arranged time. My wife is the great conductor of all things social for our kids.  I was out raking up the last of the leaves when his dad walked over and shook my hand.  "They have a play date right"?  he asked. "Right on time" I said and added, "When do we get our playdate"? and we both laughed. When he left I thought a good deal about it. Our kids are such amazing teachers.  They are never challenged to include themselves in the plan of the day.  I get it that the world would not likely function if all we did was to watch cartoons and indulge in playdates but you know what?  Somewhere in between where they are and where most of us are stuck is the sweet spot of life.  Take a moment and ask this question.  When is your next play date?  Have an excellent day.

  Be well,   Randy Taylor
