How Much For A Smile?

HMFASOne of the challenges we all face is to determine what our motivation is in life?  Everything we do in life is not as Freud said focused on and driven by sex.  It all comes down to the 11 muscles in our face.  The pursuit of happiness is in the simplest form determined by whether or not we smile.  Think of the effort we expend everyday and over a lifetime in search of the elusive smile.  The tens of thousands of hours people exchange for the money in hopes of reaching some elusive pinnacle end up confused and unhappy.  I guess what most don't understand is that this is not a destination but a journey.  The experiences along the way can be the most important brush strokes on the canvas of life. I spoke with a client today who relayed a story that stuck with me all day.  Coming out of the local arena he struck up a conversation with a young man who he often sees.  The chap has mental and physical disabilities.  At the end of their chat he pulled a $5 bill out of his pocket and said, "Here, why don't you go and get yourself a donut and coffee".  "You would have thought he won the lottery" my client said.  Think of it.  That $5 made the day of a young man.  It put a huge smile on his face that no doubt lasted long after the donut.  The smile it put on my clients face shone through the morning and beyond.  What a great lesson.  There are no doubt great pursuits in life but know this.  There is happiness that lies in all the little footholds on your way up the mountain.  Stop often along your journey and ask.  "How much for a smile"?  Have an excellent day.
Be well,
